Abstract
This study aims to analyze the impact of the rice commodity sector on inflation of foodstuffs and analyze the impact of the basic price of grain set by the government, the amount of rice imports, and the amount of national rice production on macroeconomic stability which is interpreted by inflation of foodstuffs. The results showed that the basic price variable Grain has a significant effect on food inflation in both the long and short term. With a positive value of the regression coefficient, it means that it shows a positive relationship to the inflation of foodstuffs and is consistent with the research hypothesis. The variable amount of rice imports has a significant effect on the inflation variable for foodstuffs in the short term but not in the long term. The sign of the regression coefficient showed a negative relationship to the inflation of foodstuffs and was consistent with the research hypothesis. In the long term, the variable amount of rice production has a significant effect on food inflation. However, in the short term, this variable does not have a significant effect on food inflation. This may be due to the disparity in climate, area and soil fertility between regions in Indonesia, so that the rice commodity market requires a period of time to establish a market price balance for this product by taking into account the highest level of rice price (ceiling price) set by the government. The variables in this study were Rice Imports (X1), Total Rice Production (X2), Rice Consumption (X3), Basic Prices of Grain (X4) and Foodstuff Inflation (Y).
