Abstract

Background: Treatment needs to be done so that heart failure patients feel comfortable when doing activities, and can also improve their quality of life. Medication management is the process of obtaining specific information from patients, determining appropriate drug therapy for treatment-related problems so that patients will take their medication on time every day. Research Objectives: This study aims to determine the factors that influence the treatment management of heart failure patients at the Cardiology Outpatient Unit of UNS Hospital. Methods: The design of this study used descriptive analytic with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The number of respondents in this study were 294 respondents with heart failure. The instrument used is a medication management questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. Results: The results of the management of heart failure patients in good category were 238 respondents (81%), sufficient category was 47 respondents (16%), and less category was 9 respondents (3%). The results using the Chi-Square statistical test showed that there was a relationship between the length of time being diagnosed, p-value = 0.044, and there was no relationship between the factors affecting treatment management and the significance value of the p-value, age 0.683, gender 0.841, education level 0.542, occupation 0.457. , income 0.163. Conclusion: The variable duration of diagnosis has a relationship with treatment management, while age, gender, education level, occupation, and income have no relationship with treatment management in heart failure patients.
