Abstract

One of the school's efforts in overcoming illiteracy in the Koran is by creating a program or extracurricular reading and writing the Koran which was founded in 2013. Extracurricular or programs formed because more new students come from public elementary schools than Islamic-based elementary schools, This triggers the occurrence of many new students who have not been able to read the Koran properly and correctly. Based on the background of the problem above, the problems to be researched can be formulated as follows: "School's Efforts in Implementing Blind Reading Al-Quran for Students at Al-Hadi Sukoharjo Islamic Junior High School in the 2021/2022 Academic Year". The purpose of this study is to describe the school's efforts in implementing free reading of the Koran for students at Al-Hadi Islamic Junior High School Sukoharjo and to describe the application of the Iqro method in overcoming illiteracy of the Koran for students at Al-Hadi Islamic Junior High School Sukoharjo. This type of research includes field research (Field Research). Data collection methods used are documentation, observation and interviews. Meanwhile, the analysis of the research results uses a qualitative descriptive analysis approach which consists of reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions/verification. The results of this study are the school's efforts to implement blind reading of the Koran by selecting students, making a mapping of reading and writing the Koran, making a schedule for the implementation of BTA, the implementation of reading and writing the Koran, evaluating reading and writing the Koran and holding a graduation for reading and writing the Qur'an. The reading and writing of the Koran is carried out every Monday and Thursday after school. The implementation of BTA with the iqro method in students' reading ability of the Koran increases after participating in this extracurricular activity or reading and writing program of the Koran and there are factors that cause students to have difficulty reading the Koran, namely internal factors and external factors for teachers and students.
