Abstract

Abstract Marriage is defined as a union of husband and wife relationship with the expectation that the husband and wife will accept responsibility and perform their respective roles as a couple. On the other hand, the availability of many jobs does not dampen the interest of workers to find work in the foreign tourism industry, especially cruise ships. Many people choose this profession for their work, either because this job is a prestigious job because it is elite and uniformed and certainly has a salary or income that is quite large and tempting. Namu there are consequences or negative sides in the work, because in every job there must be risks or consequences that must be faced. Long distance marriage is certainly not something that is easy, because the couple must face a variety of new problems where the wife accepts the fact that the husband is not at all times present in her daily life. Therefore, this study aims to understand and describe the resilience of the wife of sailors in marriage. The research method used is qualitative phenomenology where data collection is obtained from semi-structured interviews. Informants in this study amounted to five wives with husbands of sailors who are on duty. The results obtained from this study are that all subjects feel able to control emotions and solve problems well even in distant conditions with their husbands, but the subjects feel more when their families can gather together at home. The subject at the beginning of a long-distance marriage felt heavy because she was left by her husband and had to take care of the house and children alone. In the process of undergoing a long-distance marriage the subject begins to get used to taking care of or facing every problem that exists. Keyword: Resilience, sailor's wife, Surakarta
