Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic has restricted almost all health services. This greatly hinders pregnant women from checking the condition of their pregnancy. In improving the health of pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic, health cadres in Mawar village assisted village midwives in providing services and counseling for pregnant women. However, there is not enough research exploring the role of health cadres in improving the health of pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of health cadres in improving the health of pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic in Mawar Village, Grobogan Regency. This research is a qualitative research with an exploratory generic approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. Six participants participated in in-depth interviews consisting of 3 cadre members and 3 pregnant women in Mawar Village, Grobogan Regency. Test the validity of the interview guidelines using a pilot interview and analyzed using thematic analysis. The results of this study indicate that the role of cadres in Mawar village is less effective. This is due to the lack of knowledge of cadres related to the class program for pregnant women and the lack of independence of cadres in carrying out their duties. The role of health cadres in Mawar village, among others, helps direct pregnant women to do prenatal checkups, provide additional nutrition, make home visits to pregnant women and provide counseling about pregnancy and remind the public to attend the posyandu through mosque speakers.
