Abstract

Excellent schools will be realized with the leadership of a principal and must be aware of his duties as a leader with responsibility for his leadership. The role of the principal in developing schools to excel, the principal must be able to create superior school development programs. The researcher uses the type of field research and the approach used in this thesis is a descriptive qualitative approach. The object of research is located at SMP IT MTA Karanganyar, the subjects in this study are the principal and school staff. While the data collection techniques using, interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis method that the researcher uses to analyze the data is data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. To test the validity of the data, the researcher used triangulation technique. The results of the study show that 1) Principal leadership in developing superior schools is carried out by preparing educator standards and manpower, meet the standards of learning facilities and infrastructure, and strive to meet the graduation standards of students. 2) The leadership style of the principal at SMP IT MTA Karanganyar is a democratic and authoritarian style.
