Abstract
Social phenomena regarding the news about the spread of the corona virus through currency became the main topic on several online news portals. The indicators of frequency, duration and attention are the benchmarks for news exposure. Meanwhile, Protection Motivation Theory is used to analyze attitude change. This type of research is a correlational study with a quantitative approach. The research was conducted online by using a questionnaire technique to 176 respondents using the Google Form tool. then the analysis technique used in this study using simple linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of exposure to the corona virus news on currency on the level of use of digital money in UMS communication science students. This is evidenced by the value on the news exposure indicator which has a high value so that it has a dominant effect on students regarding trust issues related to the corona virus and switching to digital money.
