Abstract
People with mental disorders are people who experience disturbances in thoughts, behavior, and feelings that are manifested in the form of a set of symptoms or significant behavioral changes, and can cause suffering and obstacles in carrying out their functions as humans. One of the causes of mental disorders in a person is very influential on the self-concept of the individual himself. Self-concept is a combination of feelings, attitudes, and perceptions of the subconscious or conscious, including the way individuals know themselves and all aspects of their lives, which are based on their psychological and spiritual aspects and provide us with guidance and references that influence our attitudes towards situations and relationships with people. other. This study aims to determine the description of self-concept in patients with mental disorders at the Mental Hospital Derah Dr. Arif Zainudin Surakarta. This research is a type of quantitative research with proportional sampling technique. The number of respondents in this study were 96 respondents and used a self-concept questionnaire. The results of this study show a picture of self-concept in mental patients at the Mental Hospital Derah Dr. Arif Zainudin Surakarta as many as 1 respondent (1%) had a positive self-concept and 95 respondents (99%) had a negative self-concept, with components 5 respondents (5.1%) with a positive self-image and 91 respondents (94.8%) with negative self-image, 39 respondents (40.6%) with positive self-identity and 57 respondents (59.4%) with negative self-identity, 1 respondent (1%) with positive self-ideal and 95 respondents (99%) with self-ideal negative, 6 respondents (6.3%) with positive self-esteem and 90 respondents (93.7) with negative self-esteem, 3 respondents (3.1%) with positive self-esteem and 93 respondents (96.9%) with positive self-esteem negative self.
