Abstract

Injuries or accidents to children can occur anywhere and anytime. Children are vulnerable to danger at all times, be it on the playground, in their bed, or in the objects around them. This study aims to determine the relationship between parental knowledge about accident prevention and the incidence of accidents in Gambirsari Public Health Center Surakarta. This type of research is quantitative with descriptive correlative method using a cross sectional. The research subjects are parents who have children aged 1-3 years in the working area of Gambirsari Public Health Center Surakarta as many as 92 parents. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The instrument used is a questionnaire. Data analysis using Rank Spearman correlation. Results -0.446 Correlations Coefficient Spearman's rho is with a p-value of 0.001 then Ho is rejected.knowledge of parents regarding accident prevention is mostly good (55%) with the incidence of accidents in toddlers being rare (63%) Conclusion There is a relationship between parental knowledge about accident prevention and the incidence of accidents in toddlers in the working area of the Gambisari Health Center Surakarta. The negative correlation value means that if the parents' knowledge of accident prevention is good, the incidence of accidents in toddlers is getting less and less. Parents are expected to increase their knowledge about accident prevention in toddlers to minimize accidents and possible preventions that parents can do to avoid accidents in children aged 1-3 years either through social media or when there is health counseling by health workers .
