Abstract

Social media is a medium for expressing themselves to each user, one of which is expressing the self-confidence of each user. The purpose of this study was to understand the level of self-confidence of Instagram social media users among the millennial generation. A qualitative phenomenological approach was used to achieve the research objectives with participants in the age range of 23-24 years, teenagers using Instagram actively and actively uploading photo feeds and stories. The results of the research and discussion can be concluded that the millennial generation of Instagram users varies greatly in expressing themselves which is shown by displaying their hobbies and hobbies. such as going on vacation, putting on makeup, singing, or showing off their best-looking OOTD on Instagram. The goal is to build their self-image, gain recognition from the surrounding environment. Without realizing it, Instagram users spend hours accessing Instagram, so that time is wasted and becomes unproductive. Therefore the importance of awareness of Instagram users to be wise in accessing Instagram and doing more activities in the real world to be more productive.
