Abstract

Abstract The basis of this research is first, the existence of a 'life philosophy' civilization of Muhammadiyah education; second, there is a tajdid movement; third, Muhammadiyah as a pillar of religious thought in Indonesia; fourth, there is the concept of education that has been built by Muhammadiyah and; fifth, the educational philosophy that Muhammadiyah began to construct was relatively young. This research was built on the question of how the construction of Islamic education philosophy according to Muhammadiyah. This research includes religious research from the point of view of the scope of the research. If based on the type of research including exploratory research with a philosophical approach. Researchers analyzed the data in stages; first, the stage of understanding the symbols; second, the stage of giving and carefully extracting the meaning; third, the life stage of the symbol is essentially and; fourth, the interpretation stage which is enlightening. The construction of Muhammadiyah's Islamic educational philosophy begins with the main themes of Muhammadiyah's Islamic education. The main themes are the paradigm, nature, basis, and aspects of Muhammadiyah's Islamic education. The contents of the construction of Muhammadiyah's Islamic educational philosophy are in the form of: a) the ontology of Muhammadiyah's Islamic education includes the concept of God, the universe and humans. b) the epistemology of Muhammadiyah's Islamic education contains the nature of science, curriculum, educators, students, methods and tools of Islamic education. The essence of science is the unity of science, technology and art for the glory of mankind and preserving the universe. The integrated-core curriculum is the essence of the educational curriculum used by Muhammadiyah. The essence of the educator is the concept of teacher-student collaboration, while the essence of the students is the concept of nature that has the potential to be active to be developed with education. The essence of the method is to adopt the methods of existing educational philosophical schools, while the tools used are in the form of objects and non-objects. c), the area of axiology of Muhammadiyah Islamic education includes the nature of values, goals, directions and evaluation of education. The essence of the value of education is to maintain the values of Islamic education coupled with the values of Muhammadiyah. The realization of a true Islamic society as the ultimate (higher) educational goal. The direction of education is to develop individual, social and natural environment. The essence of educational evaluation is to evaluate the implementation of education so that it is in accordance with the (khittah)-personality of Muhammadiyah. So the development of his philosophy is progressive-propetic. That is a combination of progressive general education and Islamic education which inherits prophetic values.
