Abstract

Abstract Character education is very important in educational institutions. Character education is an effort to overcome the problems of the nation’s children today. Like lazy to study, cheating on exams, brawls and others. So schools do not only develop students academics but also develop character educationThe purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of character education through school culture at SMA Negeri 1 Ngemplak. This type of research with the object of reseacrh in SMA Negeri 1 Ngemplak. The subjects of this study were the Principal, Deputy Head of Curriculum, Deputy Head of Student Affairs, and PAI Teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Ngemplak. This data collection was done by using the methods of observation, interviews, and documentation. The techniques used in data analysis are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Triangulation is done to explain the validity of data from various sources. The result showed that the implementation of character education in SMA Negeri 1 Ngemplak was an effort to shape the personality of students through school culture. 1) the school culture is 22 school cultures, namely religious culture, 5S culture, discipline culture, orderly culture, hard work culture, 18-21 culture, achievement culture, literacy culture, english language culture, clean culture, honest culture, the cukture of friends of the earth, the culture of democracy, the culture of nationalism, the culture of reminding, the culture of excellent service, the culture of motivation, the culture of technological progress, the culture of health, and the culture of creation. 2) the character values instilled in SMA Negeri 1 Ngemplak are religious character values, discipline and orderly character values, hard work character values, and responsible character values.
