Abstract
The release of Web Speech API in the javascript programming language which there are text to speech and speech recognition technology in it opens the potential for developing web applications that can assist in absorbing information, especially for those who a bit do not like to read or write. The main purpose of this research is to develop a javascript-based Text to Speech application that can be accessed by public, both computer users and mobile devices such as smartphones without having to install the application and without having to be connected to the network every time. The research method used in this research is the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) waterfall model which includes analysis, design, coding, and testing. Collecting research data using literature study. The programming language of this research is Javascript. Tests were carried out using blackbox testing and system usability scale (SUS) testing. The test results show that in blackbox testing the functionality of the application that has been developed is as expected and on usability testing with the usability scale (SUS) system, the application gets a score of 73, in the good-excellent category, which means the application is acceptable.
