Abstract

Red brick is a building material that has long been used for both rural and urban communities for building materials. This can be seen from the large number of red brick industries produced by the people of Purwodadi District. The red brick industry in Purwodadi District is famous for its superior quality of red brick compared to other production red bricks and a low price of Rp. 1700 seeds. Now many farmers in the Purwodadi area are starting to be interested in developing the red brick industry because it is considered more profitable than the agricultural sector. This study aims to examine the development ofi the red brick industry in Purwodadi District in 2020 and the factors that influence this development. This research method uses a survey method using primary data analysis and secondary data. This type of research based on the approach is a quantitative research. The population in this research object is all business owners of the red brick industry in Purwodadi District, Grobogan Regency. According to BPS data in 2019, the number of business owners in the red brick industry is 45 people. So that the population taken in this study amounted to 45 business owners of the red brick industry. Methods of data collection through observation and interviews with craftsmen. Data Processing Techniques with Editing, Coding and Tabulating stages and Data Analysis Methods using cross tables and frequency tables. The results of this study indicate that the development of the red brick industry in Purwodadi District from 2020 has increased. The average production development from 2016- 2020 was 39%, an increase of Rp. 4,300,000 – Rp. 7,000,000 and the average income growth is around 32%, an increase of Rp. Rp. 4,300,000 – Rp. 5,100,000, while the capital increased by 36%, namely Rp. 5.900.000 – Rp. 7,000,000. The price of red bricks in early 2017 was at a price of 1500 per piece and has now risen to a price of 1700 per stone. The raw material factor for making red bricks can affect development because it is easier to get raw materials, the more an industry develops and the more skilled workers will produce better quality red bricks so that marketing will expand and affect industrial development.
