Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease characterized by blood sugar levels that are higher than normal. Given the high number of DM cases in Indonesia, it is necessary to have awareness in undergoing diabetes management compliance. Compliance is the behavior of someone who follows the advice of a health worker. Diabetes management adherence is based on 4 pillars. management. DM includes education/education, nutrition/dietary therapy, exercise. physical, pharmacological therapy. Failure to adhere to diabetes management can lead to complications. One of the macrovascular complications is peripheral arterial disease (PAD). This study aims to determine the relationship between diabetes management compliance with the incidence of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) at the Sukoharjo Public Health Center. This type of research is quantitative with descriptive correlational method with a cross sectional approach. The study population was DM patients at the Sukoharjo Health Center. The research sample was 93 samples with purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire (DSMQ) and measurement of the Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) using a sphygmomanometer and a stethoscope on the right arm and right leg. Analysis of the data using the chi square test, it was found that 53 respondents (57%) did not comply with the management of diabetes and mild PAD as many as 49 respondents (52.7%) with p value = 0.001 <0.05 and correlation value 0.893. So it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between diabetes management compliance with the incidence of PAD at the Sukoharjo Health Center with a very strong correlation value. Suggestions need to improve early detection of PAD through ABI examination at the puskesmas or prolanis
