Abstract

The number of business actors in the Gentan Market Area shows the economic interaction of sellers with buyers, when viewed from these interactions, there is a flow of both goods and people from one area to another. The purpose of this study is (1) To examine the social and economic characteristics of street vendors in the Gentan Supermarket Area, (2) Review the mobility of street vendors in the Gentan Supermarket Area, (3) Examine the influence and adaptation strategies of street vendors in the face of the covid-19 pandemic. The method used is a survey method of street vendors numbering 66 respondents using questionnaires to obtain data. Data retrieval techniques use census methods. The results of this study in the form of (1) social and economic characteristics of street vendors dominated by men 78.79%, average age of 39 years classified as productive age of work, SD 13.64%, SMP 30.30%, SMA 34.85%, and DIII / S1 21.21%, the average daily street vendor income ranges from Rp.479,000 or a month amounting to Rp.14,370,000, with the number of street vendors mostly having 2 dependents. (2) Mobility actors are dominated by traders who come from outside districts / cities in the province 62.12%, with motorcycle mobility facilities 81.81%, the majority of direct mobility patterns returning home (daily mobility) 68.19%, The driving factor of street vendors doing mobility is an economic factor in terms of the availability of employment opportunities in the destination area more potentially. (3) The covid-19 pandemic affects street vendor revenues by 49% for food traders, 50% for beverage traders, 21% for accessories traders and for clothing traders. The covid-19 pandemic also affected the length of time selling street vendors who were previously 7 hours / day to 8 hours / day. PKL adaptation strategies during the covid-19 pandemic include complying with health protocols, maintaining cleanliness, providing more portion numbers, increasing selling hours, increasing market cricket by offering merchandise through online media (Whatapps, Facebook and Instagram).
