Abstract
Most heart failure patients in Indonesia undergo treatment at home, where the family has the responsibility to care for the patient. So that readiness is needed in carrying out their role as caregivers, because readiness to care for patients will affect the quality of life of patients and families who care for patients. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship levels of family information need with quality of life of family treating heart failure patients at dr. moewardi hospital, surakarta. This study used an analytical survey design with a cross sectional approach with a total sample of 68 respondents and taken by accidental sampling. The instruments used in the study were respondent characteristics data, the Family Caregivers Information Needs Questionnaire (K-KICK) to determine the level of family information needs and the Family Cregivers Quality Of Life (FAMQOL) questionnaire to determine the family's quality of life. The data were analyzed using Chi Square test with the results showing a relationship between levels of family information need and quality of life for families caring for heart failure patients with a p-value of 0.006. In this study, it is known that the information needs of families caring for heart failure patients at Dr. Moewardi Hospital Surakarta is high and the quality of life of families caring for heart failure patients at Dr. Moewardi Hospital Surakarta is poor. Therefore, providing information to families in caring for patients needs to be improved because it affects the quality of life for families and patients. It is hoped that health services can improve family understanding in caring for heart failure patients so that the quality of life for families and patients also increases.
