Abstract

Distance learning is learning that is carried out without direct contact between teachers and students, so that in learning they must use techniques in designing learning materials, organizational arrangements, and communication methods used during distance learning such as utilizing various learning media such as cellphones, laptops, videos. , internet and others. The learning media used during Distance Learning at SMP N 2 Tulung Klaten is a WhatsApp platform media by utilizing the WhatsApp Group feature as a virtual classroom. With the learning through WhatsApp media, the problem arises about the effectiveness of using WhatsApp. This study aims to determine: (1) a positive and significant relationship WhatsApp social media to the effectiveness of class VIII PAI learning at SMP Negeri 2 Tulung Klatem, (2) A positive and significant relationship distance learning to the effectiveness of class VIII PAI learning. at SMP Negeri 2 Tulung Klaten, (3) There is a positive and significant relationship between social media WhatsApp and distance learning on the learning effectiveness of class VIII PAI subjects at SMP Negeri 2 Tulung Klaten. The type of research used in this research is field research with a quantitative approach. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative research where a form of research is carried out by describing and studying an objective phenomenon. This method is also used as proof and confirmation because the data is in the form of numbers which are then analyzed statistically. The population in this study were all 161 class VIII students consisting of 5 classes, namely VIII A, VIII B, VIII C, VIII D, and VIII E. The sample in this study amounted to 64 people taken from class VIII E and VIII. D is the most active class category and the least active class. In taking the sample using a non-probability sampling technique (purposive sampling), which is to determine the sample by taking into account. Collecting data in this study using observation techniques, and distributing questionnaires/questionnaires. The data analysis technique in this research is multiple linear regression analysis technique (t test) and F test (simultaneous), then processed using the SPSS Statistic 22 calculation program. The results of multiple linear regression analysis of the WhatsApp social media variable (X1) show the value of tcount = 4.792 with a significance level of 0.000, so it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted (tcount > ttable; <0.05), which means there is a positive and significant relationship between the media social WhatsApp on the effectiveness of learning, while for the distance learning variable (X2), the value of tcount = 0.943 with a significance level of 0.349, it can be concluded that H0 is accepted and Ha is rejected (tcount < ttable; > 0.05) which means that there is no positive relationship and significant distance learning on the effectiveness of learning. For the results of the F (simultaneous) test of the social media variables whatsapp and distance learning together, the Fcount = 13.756 with a significance value of 0.000 means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted (Fcount > Ftable with a significance level of less than 0.05), so it can be concluded concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between social media WhatsApp and distance learning (X1 and X2) on the effectiveness of learning.
