Abstract

Abstract This research is motivated by a moral decline and a decrease in character values that exist in students. Sophisticated technology and easy internet access cause a decrease in the character values of students. The objectives to be achieved in this study are to describe the implementation of Hizbul Wathan extracurricular activities at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten for the Academic Year 2021/2022; to describe how to internalize the values of character education through Hizbul Wathan extracurricular at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten for the Academic Year 2021/2022; and to describe the obstacles in internalizing the values of character education through Hizbul Wathan extracurricular at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten. This type of research includes qualitative research, namely by collecting data through phenomena directly and according to what is happening in the field. In this study, the researcher describes the internalization of character education values through Hizbul Wathan extracurriculars and the obstacles faced by schools in planting character education. Sources of data in this study include primary data sources and secondary data. Data collection in this study was carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of Hizbul Wathan extracurricular activities at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten was in accordance with the Hizbul Wathan Central Quarter guidebook. The two activities to internalize the values of character education that the school carries out are by providing guidance, habituation, and an emotional approach through flag ceremonies, PBB, rigging, decoding Hizbul Wathan, semaphore, entrepreneurship and jasmine cadets. The three schools experienced several obstacles in internalizing the values of character education such as differences in the character of students, the lack of parental roles, and teachers still had difficulty adjusting the character values to be instilled in students.
