Abstract
Mount Merapi is an active volcano located on the south side of Sleman Regency, west side of Magelang Regency, north and east side of Boyolali Regency, and southeast side of Klaten Regency. Merapi still emits hot cloud material, dust, hot lava, cold lava, and material, gravel, and sand so that it can endanger the area and the activities of the surrounding community. The Woro River in Kemalang District, Klaten Regency is a disaster-prone area due to Merapi's activities, so it requires a strategy to adapt to the community and the sand section around Mount Merapi. The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of vulnerability to the lahar disaster of Mount Merapi on the Woro River, Kemalang District, Klaten Regency and analyze the adaptation strategies carried out by sand miners to face the lahar disaster of Mount Merapi on the Woro River. The method used for the first objective is processing on ArcGis, calculating landslide susceptibility parameters with land and slope classification based on Zuidam and Cencelado and combined with classification from PSBA 2001, rainfall, land use and lahar vulnerability. While the second objective uses the methods of reduction, presentation, and leverage. The results showed that the villages with the highest landslide susceptibility were Kendalsari, Panggang, Bawukan, Talun, Dompol, and Kemalang villages. Woro River as a location for miners is included in the category of lahar prone. Adaptation strategies carried out by the community to deal with cold lava disasters include active adaptation, passive adaptation, social adaptation with kinship and social systems, economic adaptation, culture which includes customs. Adaptations made by sand miners by taking into account natural conditions if there is a lava fall followed by rain then mining activities will stop.
