Abstract

The research was motivated by the lack of optimization of character education in schools. The rapid development of technology and increasingly sophisticated information causes moral degradation in students and decreases the culture of reading and memorizing the Koran. The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of the Tahfidz Al-Quran Program in the Character Development of Students at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten and to identify obstacles in developing the character of the students in the Program at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten. The type of research used by the researcher is a qualitative research with a case study research model describing the existing problems in accordance with the data found in the field. In this study, the author describes the Implementation of the Tahfidz Al-Quran Program in Character Development of Students at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten. The subjects of this study were Ustadz/Ustadzah Griya Quran in collaboration with SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Klaten, and also students of the Tahfidz Al-Quran Program. Data collection techniques used are Observation, Interview, and Documentation. Meanwhile, to analyze the data obtained by researchers using data analysis techniques including data collection, data validity test, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the Tahfidz Al-Quran Program in Student Character Development through the Tahfidz Al- Quran Program has four character values, namely Religious Values, Honest Values, Discipline Values and Independent Values. The obstacles in this program are divided into two, namely internal constraints (lazy feeling, lack of student murojaah and often forgetting verses) and external (influence of cellphones and not being able to manage effective time for memorizing).
