Abstract
The development of technology provided many benefits for society, one of a which is the ease of communication. One of the most popular online communication applications is WhatsApp. In the WhatsApp application there is a feature of using stickers. A sign or object can give a rise to interpretantions for the user in perceiving it on a sticker. One of the stickers found on WhatsApp is the BTS sticker. BTS stickers are considered very representative of expressions and words for people from the young to old age range, especially for the millennial generation. BTS character stickers might also have an impact on the languages and expressions used by the people who consume them so that many fans start learning Korean. The purpose of this study is to represent the "BTS" character in the WhatsApp application as a communication medium. This study was analyzed using Charles Sanders Peirce's Semiotics theory, Stuart Hall's Representation theory, and Masculinity theory. This research method is qualitative using constructivism paradigm. The data obtained in this study were analyzed using theoretical triangulation. The results of this study showed that the concept of masculinity in BTS members on WhatsApp stickers was constructed as men who have attractive visuals and are dashing, polite, have a six pack body, women's dreams, gentle, patient, polite, and have the impression of being able to protect women. Masculinity in BTS members shown by their athletic, dashing, and stocky physical appearance.
