Abstract
Anemia is a global health problem that often occurs in adolescent girls, especially in developing countries. The global prevalence of anemia in 2019 was 29.9%, mostly adolescents. Causes of anemia include the habit of drinking coffee and tea which can inhibit the maximum absorption of iron, and lack of quality sleep at night will inhibit oxygen in the blood which can cause low hemoglobin levels. This study aims to determine the relationship between the frequency of drinking coffee, tea and sleep quality with the incidence of suspected anemia in adolescent girls in Sukoharjo Regency. This research is a quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The selection of schools was done by simple random sampling, from several schools. Sampling was selected by simple random sampling with the number of students who met the criteria, including 110 students. Data collection on the frequency of drinking coffee and obtained from filling out a coffee drinking habit questionnaire and categorized according to KNHANES V, data quality of sleep was obtained from filling out the PSQI (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) questionnaire, and data on suspected anemia was obtained from filling out the anemia sign detection questionnaire, filling out all of the questionnaire using Google Forms. The overall data obtained were analyzed using the Chi Square statistical test to determine whether there was a correlation. Adolescent in Sukoharjo Regency with a frequency of drinking coffee quite often by 5.5%, by 59.1%, and very rarely by 34.5%. The frequency of drinking tea frequently in adolescent girls is 9.1%, quite often by 25.5%, and rarely by 6.4%. Adolescent girls with good sleep quality by 40%, bad by 60%. Adolescent girls with suspected anemia were 30.9%, and non-suspected anemia was 69.1%. The results showed that there was no correlation between the frequency of coffee drinking and the incidence of suspected anemia (p=0.657). There was no correlation between the frequency of drinking tea with the incidence of suspected anemia (p=0.302). There was no correlation between sleep quality and the incidence of suspected anemia (p=0.129).
