Abstract

ABSTRACT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MOTHER'S NUTRITIONAL STATUS AND MOTHER'S AGE TOWARDS EXCLUSIVE FEEDING Maimunah Abdul Rohman1 , Tri Agustina2 Faculty of Medicine of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta Background: The exclusive mother breast milk (ASI) is one of the most important elements in optimal nutrition during a period of development that has a positive long-term effect on infant cognitive ability. The exclusive provision of breast milk in Indonesia is still not carried out with maximum, one of which is a cultural factor and a perception of mothers on the adequacy of breast milk. Some factors indicated to be a factor related to exclusive breastfeeding in nursing mothers are mother's nutritional status and maternal age Objective: To analyze the relationship status of mother nutrition and mother's age to the introduction of the exclusive breast milk aid in Gatak Sukoharjo. Method: The method on this research is Observational analytic using cross sectional approach. The research population is all mothers who have toddlers with a age of more than 6 months in the working area of the Public health center of Gatak Sukoharjo, while research samples of 60 toddler mothers. Collection of research data using questionnaires, while analysis of data using Chi Square test and logistic regression Research Results: Research shows that there is a nutritional status relationship of mothers with exclusive feeding (P = 0.002; OR = 3.638) and there is no mother's age relationship with exclusive BREAST-feeding (P = 0.721). Conclusion: The conclusion of the research is a factor related to the exclusive feeding of breast milk in this study is the nutritional status of mothers, while the unrelated factor is the age of mothers.
