Abstract
Traditional medicinal plants tend to be rarely known to the public in both rural and urban areas. There are even herbal plants that are actually beneficial but are considered wild plants that are wasted so much. Many articles about medicinal plants are recorded in a book but people tend to have no time to look for benefits of these medicinal plants because the simple appearance and the lack of public interest in reading books. Referring to the problem, and with the development of technology, it is necessary to have an application that can shows the importance of medicinal plants to the community. This application aims to explain the benefits of traditional medicinal plants. Android-based smartphone application is become one of the solutions. Considering that smartphones have become one of the primary needs for the public that is practical and can be used at any time. The stages of this study include needs analysis, system design, implementation and testing. This application was developed with Costruct 2 as a framework, Corel Draw X7 and Photoshop to design images in the application. Testing this system used the black box method where all tested scenarios get valid results. Then the questionnaire testing to the public gets the highest percentage score of 76,25%. Final result of this research is the application to introduce the traditional medicinal plants to help the public in understanding the benefits of various medicinal plants types.
