Abstract

This study aims to describe: 1) the leadership of the principal in guiding the performance of teachers in Birrul Walidain Elementary School Muhammadiyah Sragen, 2) the obstacles experienced by the principal in the implementation of teacher performance in Birrul Walidain Elementary School Muhammadiyah Sragen, 3) solutions to overcome the leadership constraints of the principal in developing teacher performance in Birrul Walidain Elementary School Muhammadiyah Sragen . This type of research is descriptive qualitative research using three data analyzes, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data collection techniques used in this study are observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate: 1) the leadership of the principal in guiding teacher performance by fostering work discipline for teachers, giving motivation, giving awards, including teachers in training , and supervision of teacher performance, 2) barriers experienced by principals in the implementation of teacher performance guidance that not all teachers are willing and able to carry out directives from principals, differences in perceptions that each teacher has a different character, 3) Solutions to overcome leadership barriers the principal in implementing teacher performance guidance is by forming teamwork in order to control performance, peer assessment and involvement of the committee in teacher quality control.
