Abstract

The incidence of stunting in children under two years old at Public Health Sangkrah Surakarta in 2017 amounted to 6.28% with a target of 5.63% and a low birth weight incidence of 7.29% with a target of 2.7% so it is still become a problem that must be overcome. Factors that affect the incidence of stunting in children under the age of two years are low birth weight. Resulting in malnutrition, and disruption of infant growth. Exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 month of life and continued with complementary feeding, will determine the future of the child. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship low birth weight and exclusive breastfeeding behavior to the incidence of stunting of baduta at Sangkrah Public Health Service Surakarta. This is case control 2 research which conducted in working area of Sangkrah Public Health Surakarta. The population of this study were mothers of children aged 12-24 months and samples taken as many as 35 children under two years old for case group and 35 children under two years old for control group sample using systematic random sampling technique. The data weve analyzed using Chi-Square test. The results of this study indicate that 73,7 % of low birth weight infant experience stunting with p-values 0,030 (p<0.05) and (OR = 1,33; CI= 0.078-1,408). Which 63,9 % of children who did not given exclusive breastfeeding experience stunting with pvalue 0,031 (p<0,05) and OR = 0,30; CI= 0.116-0,820). There is relationship between low birth weight and exclusive breastfeeding to the incidence of stunting of children under two years old at Sangkrah Public Health Surakarta. There is a relationship of low birth weight and exclusive breastfeeding behavior to the incidence of stunting in children under two years at Sangkrah Public Health Surakarta.
