Abstract

Mount Lawu, located on the border of Central Java and East Java, has high biodiversity but is vulnerable to forest fires, especially in the dry season. Human activities, such as land clearing, and climatic conditions also exacerbate the risk of fire. This research aims to analyze the level of vulnerability to forest fires on the lower slopes of Mount Lawu and formulate appropriate evacuation strategies using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This research uses quantitative descriptive methods with GIS analysis. The data used includes air temperature, humidity, slope, land cover and fire history. This data is processed using scoring and overlay to map fire-prone areas. The research results show that most areas on the lower slopes of Mount Lawu have a low to moderate level of fire vulnerability, with some areas on the more open plains showing a higher vulnerability. The evacuation strategy places evacuation points in areas with low vulnerability, and uses existing and known evacuation routes such as the Cemoro Sewu and Cemoro Kandang routes. This strategy is expected to minimize the risk of injury and loss when a fire occurs.
