Abstract

Tofu waste liquid could possibly cause pollution to the environment because there is higly contained of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), and Total Suspended Solid (TSS) which can pollute only if being disposed into the river. So that the levels of COD, BOD, TSS must be reduced before being discharged into the river so as not to pollute the surrounding environment by treating tofu liquid waste using electrocoagulation method. The research results at the beginning before testing had a COD of 15,844 mg/L, TSS of 1,100 mg/L, BOD value of 1,825 mg/L, and TSS of 1,100 mg/L, and a pH of 6 – 7 and after processing tofu liquid waste for 9 days had a COD of 6,333 mg/L, BOD value of 737. 9 mg/L, TSS of 84 mg/L, and pH of 6 – 7 so the processing of tofu liquid waste using electrocoagulation method can reduce the level of tofu liquid waste.
