Abstract

In this era of globalization, the scope for buying and selling activities has become increasingly broad, supported by the existence of various online shopping platforms such as Tokopedia, TikTok Shop (Tokopedia Shop), and Shopee, which have caused a surge in imported products, one of which is food in the Indonesian market. Food products sold online are important to have halal certification. However, in practice, many online business actors still sell imported food without halal certification. The approach method used in this study is an empirical legal approach. This research is descriptive, with the data used being primary data and secondary data. The data collection method uses surveys and literature studies. The data analysis method is a qualitative quantitative analysis. Respondents in this study were Muslim consumers and had bought imported food online at least once. The results of this study indicate that the main factor in consumers' considerations for buying imported food online is because of trends and virality, although many trending and viral products do not have clear information and halalness. Therefore, the government has made various efforts such as protection through regulation, supervision, cooperation between government agencies, and imposing legal sanctions. In the government's efforts, there are still obstacles originating from the government, business actors, and consumers themselves.
