Abstract

Mr. Wahyono's UKM is one of the small businesses in Sukoharjo with the main production being bricks, the problem that arises is the existence of work in process (WIP) products resulting in the emergence ofwasteon the production floor. The purpose of this study was to determine the flow of information and production, analyze the types of waste and provide suggestions for improvements to brick SMEs. The methods used are value stream mapping and waste assessment model. Based on the results of the study, the PCE value on CVSM was 55% and PCE FVSM was 57%. The results of the WRM questionnaire obtained waste the highest form process and transportation with a value of 17%, while the value of waste to waiting has a percentage value of 20%, while the results of the WAQ questionnaire calculation obtained 4 dominant types of waste that occur in brick SMEs, namely waste overproduction 23.68%, inventory 88.55%, defects 13.84% and transportation 13.76%. Recommendations for improvement are to book every SME activity, re-layout the layout of the production process, switch to the use of semi- automatic machines, procure additional material handling in the form of wheelbarrows or hand trucks and set a fixed schedule for the production process.
