Abstract

The agricultural sector has a very strategic role in national economic development, especially as a provider of food for the Indonesian people. This study aims to estimate the effect of the agricultural sector consisting of population, rice field area, and rice production on the GRDP growth rate in Wonogiri Regency in 2016-2020 using panel data regression with the Fixed Effects Model (FEM) approach. This study uses secondary data obtained through the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the Information Management and Documentation Officer (PPID) Wonogiri. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the population had a negative effect on the growth rate of GRDP, while the area of paddy fields and rice production had no effect on the growth rate of GRDP. To improve the agricultural sector in Wonogiri Regency, it is hoped that the government will maintain the position of the agricultural sector by increasing development of the agricultural sector so that it remains the sector that provides the largest contribution in Wonogiri Regency. In addition, controlling the conversion of paddy fields is one of the strategies to increase rice production capacity.
