Abstract

The study aims to estimate the influence of Gross Domestic Regional Product (GDRP), poor population numbers, and education levels on income inequality between regions in East Java during the period 2016-2020 using regression analysis of panel data. The results showed the selected estimated model is fixed effects model (FEM). The results of the influence validity test (t test) cross section show that the PDRB variable negatively affects income inequality. Meanwhile, the number of poor people and the level of education had no effect on income inequality in East Java during the period 2016-2020. Based on the model's existence test (Test F), the model is estimated to exist, with a Coefficient of Determination (R2) value of 0,6663; Which means that 66.63% of the variation in income inequality variables can be explained by variations in PDRB variables, poverty rates, and education levels, while the remaining 33,37% is influenced by variations from other variables outside the model. The East Java Provincial Government and the government in each region should further improve the quality of community empowerment programs. In addition, the Government must continue to be consistent in improving the quality of human resources by improving educational facilities in order to increase productivity and economic growth and reduce income inequality between regions in East Java.
