Abstract
Introduction : Chronic kidney disease (CKD) causes the quality of life of patients to decrease. The decline in the quality of life of CKD sufferers is caused by a lack of self-care ability. Objective : This study was to determine the relationship between self care and quality of life of patients with CKD in RSUD Dr. Moewardi. Methods : This research is quantitative with a cross sectional approach. The number of samples as many as 91 respondents with accidental sampling technique. Collecting data using self care of CKD Index and WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires. Data analysis used Chi Square test with p<0.05. Results : The study showed that respondents with self-care were fully dependent on 1 (1.1%), partially dependent 56 (61.5%) and independent 34 (37.4%). Respondents with good quality of life were 54 (59.3%) and 37 (40.7%). Most of the respondents have self-care dependence in part with poor quality of life with a total of 36 respondents (39.5%). There are no respondents with fully dependent self-care who have good quality of life and no respondents with independent self-care who have poor quality of life. Conclusion : There was a relationship between self care and the quality of life of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis at RSUD Dr. Moewardi (p=0.001). Suggestion : Health workers are expected to provide education, enthusiasm and encouragement to CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis in order to maintain self-care behavior to improve their quality of life and health.
