Abstract

The Human Development Index (HDI) is a measuring tool to achieve the quality of life in a region or country. The components that make up the Human Development Index (HDI) include health, knowledge dimensions, and decent living dimensions. This study aims to determine the effect of government spending on the education and health sectors as well as per capita GRDP on the Human Development Index in the Regency/City of Yogyakarta Province for the 2015-2020 period by using panel data regression. The data used in this study are secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the website of the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (DJPK) Yogyakarta Province. The results of this study indicate that partially the per capita GRDP variable has a significant effect on the human development index, while the education and health sector government expenditure variables have no significant effect on the Human Development Index in Yogyakarta Province.
