Abstract

Paving blocks are made from a mixture of Portland cement, water, and aggregate. Paving block is an environmentally friendly construction material because it is very useful for the pavement industry. In its own application the work of paving blocks makes it easier to install and maintain because the price is relatively cheap. So that paving blocks become one of the alternative pavement roads in the archipelago based on appropriate values to strengthen the compressive strength, tensile strength, and water absorption values, using a mixture of 0%, 13%, 14%, and 15% fly ash on the weight of cement and using pyramid nail press as the emphasis plate. The paving block compositions include cement, fine aggregate, and fly ash, the number of test objects used for testing are 16 pieces that have been cut into cubes, 8 test objects using fly ash with pyramid plates and 8 test objects using fly ash with normal plates. . The flexural strength test specimens were 40 specimens, 20 specimens used fly ash with pyramid plates and 20 specimens used fly ash with normal plates. The number of test objects for water absorption is 8 test objects. the results of testing the compressive strength of paving blocks with normal slabs at the age of 28 days paving, the results of the optimum compressive strength of normal slab paving were obtained on paving with a fly ash percentage of 13%, with an average compressive strength of 7.85 MPa. The results of the optimum paving compressive strength with pyramid plates were obtained in paving with a fly ash percentage of 13%, with an average compressive strength of 16.18 MPa. The results of the flexural strength of adding fly ash to paving with the optimal compressive strength test of pyramid nails at a percentage of 14% with an average flexural strength of 21.67 MPa, and for adding fly ash to paving with normal slabs at a percentage of 13% with an average flexural strength of 23 MPa . While a good water absorption test is obtained on paving using pyramid plates with the addition of 15% fly ash with an average water absorption of 2.64%, then according to SNI 03-0691-1996 it is included in the class A classification.
