Abstract

This research is entitled Livelihood Strategies of Street Vendors in Umbul Pengging Baths Tourism Object, with the aim of knowing the characteristics of street vendors' households in Pengging's Umbul Tourism Object and knowing the livelihood strategies of traders' households in Pengging's Umbul Tourism Object. The research method uses survey methods in the field, namely interviews by giving questions to respondents with questionnaires. This research is a quantitative research used is descriptive quantitative using survey data. The population in this study are street vendors who sell at the Umbul Pengging Boyolali tourism object as many as 228 with a research sample of 70 respondents. The sampling technique used simple random sampling. The data processing technique in this study was carried out after the data was collected, then carried out data processing including editing, coding and tabulation. The method used to analyze the data is to use a cross table and a frequency table. The results of data analysis are as follows. Characteristics of street vendors who sell in Umbul Pengging are dominated by men with a total of 13 street vendors (61.90%). The average age of street vendors is 41 years, street vendors in Umbul Pengging are classified as productive age. Productive age is the age at which a person is still able to work well. The last education of street vendors in Umbul Pengging is dominated by high school graduates with a total of 14 people (66.67%). Before traders became street vendors, they generally worked in the formal sector with a total of 11 people (52.38). Job mobility from the formal sector to the informal sector can be concluded that the informal sector provides greater benefits. Based on the type of merchandise, food stall vendors dominate with a total of 12 street vendors (57.14%). The condition of the Covid 19 pandemic on street vendors resulted in a decrease in the income of street vendors by 81.65%. The sector that experienced the highest decline was street vendors and food stalls with a percentage of 87.75%.
