Abstract
Background : Buteyko Breathing Technique is a unique breathing technique that uses control breathing and breath holding methods to treat health problems that are believed to be associated with hyperventilation and low levels of carbon dioxide in the body. Objective : To determine the benefits of the Buteyko breathing technique in adult asthmatic patients in Asia. Methods : This type of research uses the Literature Review method. The data used is secondary data, data obtained from Pubmed, Google Scholar & NCBI in the 2011-2021 range by inputting the keywords “Teknik Pernapasan Buteyko” and “asma”; “Buteyko Breathing Technique” and “asthma”; “Buteyko” and “pasien asma” or “Buteyko Method”. Journals used must comply with PICO standards and obtained 5 articles that meet the requirements are obtained. Articles that meet the criteria are subjected to data extraction, data review, appraisal stage using the PEDro scale to determine the level of bias and then drawing conclusions. Results : The result of the literature review test showed that the journals used were included in the sufficient criteria with a rating of 7-11 on the PEDro scale. Of the 5 journals showed benefits in adult asthmatic patients. Conclusion : Based on the results of studies that have been carried out showing the benefits and exercise dose of the Buteyko breathing technique on adult asthmatic patients can have a significant effecton asthma symptoms in adult patients.
