Abstract

Population growth that reaches 1.2% /year causes the population density in the Malioboro area to be higher. The highest density in the city of Yogyakarta is in the Malioboro area, namely in Ngampilan District with a density of 22,622 people/km2. The growth of development which has a faster pace in urban areas also has an impact on physical changes in land use. People tend to use green open space for various purposes with other functions and benefits. The development of high-rise buildings and public infrastructure facilities has resulted in the existence of green open space being threatened. The development of green open space is one of the hopes in urban areas to reduce environmental problems that can occur. Based on the Minister of Public Works Regulation No. 5/PRT/M/2008 concerning Spatial Planning, each city area must provide 30% green open space, so it must periodically evaluate the availability of green open space. The aims of this research are 1) to analyze the spatial distribution pattern of green open space in the Malioboro area of Yogyakarta City; 2) analyzing the level of availability of green open space (RTH) in the Malioboro area of Yogyakarta City; 3) analyzing the need for green open space (RTH) in the Malioboro area of Yogyakarta City. The research method used is high resolution image interpretation and survey method. The analysis technique used is image interpretation analysis technique, analysis of the availability and needs of green space based on the regulation of Law no. 6 of 2007 and the Minister of Public Works Regulation No. 5/PRT/M/2008 concerning Spatial Planning. The image used is the Pleiades Image. The analysis of the need for green open space is calculated based on the area and number of residents served by the green open space. The distribution pattern of green open space was identified quantitatively using nearest neighbor analysis. The results show that the overall distribution pattern of green open space in the Malioboro area has an evenly distributed pattern regardless of the different types of green open space. The Malioboro area has the availability of green open space of 40.76 ha or 12.99% which shows that 53.46 ha of green open space are still needed. Gowongan Village has the highest percentage of green open space with 14.97%, while the lowest percentage is in Sosromenduran Village with 10.70%. Gowongan Village, Ngupasan Village, Bumijo Village has a percentage of green open space of more than 13%. Pringgokusuman Village, Sosromenduran Village, Suryatmajan Village, and Ngampilan Village have the percentage of green open space below 13%. The need for green open space based on the number of residents in the Malioboro area still requires 22 green green spaces for environmental parks; 1 green open space city park; 5.85 ha of cemetery green open space; and 29.06 ha of green space for certain functions. Private green open space such as yard green open space has the potential to be developed, especially in Ngupasan Village, Sosromenduran Village, and Suryatmajan Village, which have the highest need for private green open space.
