Abstract

This study aims to describe Kampus Mengajar program participants' experiences, the problem they confront (if any), and how they solve the problem when teaching English as an apprentice teacher in Kampus Mengajar Program at SDN 03 Wanamulya. The researcher brought up this topic because curious about how apprentice teachers from the Kampus Mengajar program who were not from the English department taught English to primary school children. This study is descriptive qualitative research with phenomenological approach to analyze the data. The subjects of this research are the four apprentice teachers who teach English in the Kampus Mengajar Program at SDN 03 WANAMULYA. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were used to collect data. The results show that: (1) Apprentice Teachers' perceptions of the experience in teaching English in the Kampus Mengajar Program at SDN 03 Wanamulya (Teaching English in the Kampus Mengajar Program is new experience and Teaching English in the Kampus Mengajar Program is enjoyable experience, (2) Problems Faced by Apprentice Teacher in Teaching English in Kampus Mengajar Program at SDN 03 Wanamluya (Apprentice teachers faced challenges due to their lack of expertise in teaching English, Apprentice teachers faced challenges due to a lack of facilities for supporting the teaching and learning process, Apprentice teachers faced challenges when deciding the suitable method and strategy to use in teaching English. (3) Solutions to problems faced by apprentice teachers when teaching English in the Kampus Mengajar program at SDN 03 Wanamulya (Apprentice teachers looking for the alternative design learning media in the learning process, Apprentice teachers looking for the alternative design learning materials in the learning process.
