Abstract

Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy is a progressive degeneration of peripheral nerves that affects the sensory, motor, and autonomic components of the peripheral nerves, resulting in loss of protective sensation, intrinsic foot muscle dysfunction, and anhidrosis of the foot. To overcome the symptoms of diabetic neuropathy, one of the therapies that can be done is physiotherapy interventions such as Neuromuscular Taping (NMT). NMT is a method by which an elastic bandage is applied to the skin. The part of the skin that is attached to the plaster will stimulate the formation of dilatation in the skin and underlying tissue through the effect of increasing rotation. The purpose of this research is to identify how the application of Neuromuscular Taping affects the sensibility of the feet placed on the feet of people with Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy. The procedure in this research is NMT with a decompression method by linking 2 groups, namely the intervention group that was given the NMT application and the control group who was given guidance. Research results show that the application of NMT can improve foot sensibility in people with diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
