Abstract

Obesity is a condition where there is excess fat in the body, due to an imbalance of energy entering and leaving. Obesity is caused by genetic factors, physical activity, fast food, psychological and socio-economic factors. In this review study focused on physical activity, because the higher the physical activity, the lower the risk of obesity. This review study aims to determine the relationship between physical activity and the incidence of obesity in adolescents based on empirical studies over the last five years. Review Methods: The electronic literature study uses 4 databases (e-Resources library, google scholar, Science Direct and PubMed) using cross-sectional and experimental design studies, in the form of Indonesian and English. Using the keywords "physical activity", "obesity", "adolescence" and found 10 articles that matched the predefined inclusion criteria. Result: In this study, the provision of physical activity measurement tools (n = 1) and questionnaire filling (n = 9). The contributing factors in physical activity studies are largely cross-sectional. Conclusion: Research in 10 journals shows that physical activity of adolescents shows a significant relationship to body mass index, where light physical activity of adolescents has a 55.2% chance of being obese compared to moderate physical activity. So this shows that there is a relationship between physical activity and the incidence of obesity in adolescents. Suggestion: Adolescents are expected to be more active in physical activities and reduce sedentary behavior, in order to prevent obesity and improve adolescent lifestyles and mental health.
