Abstract

Employment problems are still a serious problem faced by the government. The absorption of labor can be used as a benchmark for the success of development both nationally and in a region, with the intention that the absorption of labor in the regions supports the success of national development as a whole. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the absorption of labor in the large and medium manufacturing sector in Central Java Province 2010-2014. The data in this study are secondary data. The data analysis method used is panel data with a fixed effect model approach. The results of the study prove that the variables of gross regional domestic product and the proportion of the workforce with diploma education and above are positive and significant for employment. Meanwhile, district/city minimum wages and the number of business units have no effect on employment. So that the Central Java provincial government should.
