Abstract

Samboja is a sub-district located in the coastal area of Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Palm oil is one of the most strategic commodities to be developed, namely for offices and residential areas. The issues faced became the background of the planning of residential areas on oil palm plantations in the Samboja sub-district, one of which was difficult and limited land. The design of this settlement is expected to bring beneficial results to the community, by optimizing and developing the potential of the area. The design problem is how to plan residential areas on oil palm plantations with an eco-settlement concept approach in difficult land conditions. The purpose of this design is to get a design for residential and office areas on oil palm plantations and on hilly land with textured road conditions by utilizing the surrounding energy to the maximum with an eco-settlement concept approach. The method used is the development of basic ideas obtained from observation, literature study and data analysis which is accumulated and applied according to architectural concepts as outlined in the form of design drawings and 3D models. The results obtained, namely the design of the area with the concept of eco-settlement, the concept of design in clay, and the concept of energy used.
