Abstract

The Management of Environmental-based Character Education in the Adiwiyata School of SMK Negeri 2 Wonogiri. The Academic Year of 2018/2019. Tesis. Postgraduate Program. Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The purpose of the study is to describe: (1) Planning, (2) Organizing, (3) Implementing, (4) Evaluating, the environmental-based character education in the Adiwiyata school of SMK Negeri 2 Wonogiri at the academic year of 2018/2019. The research methods applied in this study are a qualitative research and an ethnographic research approach, in which the researcher tried to find out the management of environmental-based education character in SMK Negeri 2 Wonogiri. The data collection technique is done by using documentation, observation, and interview with the school principal, the vice principal and some teachers in SMK Negeri 2 Wonogiri. The technique of data analysis used is an interactive analysis model, the researcher conducts data reduction, data record and presentation. Records from the research place consist of description and reflection. The result of the study include the planning of character education management which is integrated in learning and formulated in syllabus and lesson plans. Organizing the management of character education involved all teachers, students, committees, the surrounding community and related institutions. The implementation of environmental-based character education management always develops local and global issues. Evaluation of character education management is done through written tests and observations on the changes of the students’ character and the condition of the school infrastructure.
