Abstract

The series of swing excavator motion system is called swing machinery, which consists of swing motor, swing brake and swing gear reducer. The definition of swing gear reducer is a working mechanism whose job is to reduce rotation, where this system is used to produce large torque with small rotation. This analysis aims to determine the damage, the cause of the damage and the corrective steps of the swing motion system, especially the swing gear reducer. The procedure for checking the swing gear reducer damage is by performing a performance test starting from the road unit test, visual checking and disassembly of components to determine which components are damaged. The results of the check or analysis found damage to the oil seal located on the swing gear reducer housing, resulting in oil leakage. The cause of this damage is due to the large number of grams or dirt attached to the oil seal and receiving friction from the output shaft pinion when the swing rotates and presses the gap to prevent oil leakage. Repair steps are by replacing damaged components with new ones, for preventive measures to minimize greater damage by means of regular maintenance.
