Abstract

This study aims to describe: 1) basic beliefs about the work of batik craftsmen at Wido Kencana batik, 2) attitudes towards the work of batik craftsmen at Wido Kencana batik, 3) behavior at work of batik craftsmen at Wido Kencana batik, and 4) work environment and work tools at Wido Kencana batik. The type of research used is qualitative research with an ethnographic research design. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that the craftsmen at Batik Wido Kencana have work confidence, namely work as a profession because the craftsmen are directly involved in the batik-making process and have skills. In addition, work as a necessity is because work is an obligation to meet the needs of the craftsmen. The attitude of the craftsmen at Batik Wido Kencana is that they like work because they have skills and experience, are not forced to work because they work to meet needs and are responsible for producing good products. The behavior of the craftsmen at Batik Wido Kencana are honest, agile, thorough, helping each other, highly dedicated and motivating each other. The work environment at Batik Wido Kencana is a clean, safe, familial and comfortable environment even though it is hot and noisy. Complete work tools and training in using work tools before work.
