Abstract

Population information plays an important role in national development planning. Population data in Temanggung Regency is tabular so the display is less attractive and less effective for the process of monitoring and demographic analysis. The rapid development of information technology and the internet makes the visualization of population data can be done in various ways, one of which is using Story Maps. The use of Story Maps allows the addition of narrative text, photos, and videos in web-based maps so that the resulting visualization can be more attractive. This study aims to visualize spatiotemporal population data in Temanggung Regency using Story Maps and analyze demographic developments in Temanggung Regency based on spatiotemporal data. The method used in this research is secondary data analysis and interviews. The research stages consist of research preparation (literature study and primary and secondary data collection), making a population spatiotemporal database, making of population spatiotemporal data visualization using Story Maps, and demographic analysis based on spatiotemporal data. This research produces a population spatiotemporal database and a web-based population spatiotemporal map using Story Maps. The spatiotemporal database contains population data that is grouped by year so that data retrieval will be easier. Meanwhile, web maps using Story Maps contain information on population structure, population processes, potential, and population problems in Temanggung Regency. Classification on the resulting map is done manually based on data calculations from 2000, 2010, and 2020 so that the class intervals used in the three years are the same. This will make it easier to see the development of population data from year to year. The results showed that Story Maps were effective for displaying population data in a spatiotemporal manner. Population information can be updated temporally from year to year.
