Abstract
Stunting is still one of the highest malnutrition problems in Indonesia that has not been resolved until now. Stunting is influenced by interrelated factors, such as a history of exclusive breastfeeding and birth spacing. Based on the results of a preliminary survey in the village of Tepisari, it was found that 9,65% of children under five were stunted. This study aimed to determine the correlation between history of exclusive breastfeeding and birth spacing with the incidence of stunting in toddlers in Tepisari Village, Polokarto District, Sukoharjo. This type of research was observational using cross sectional method. The number of research subjects was 65 toddlers and mothers of toddlers who live in Tepisari Village and were selected using random sampling. Stunting data was obtained using the TB/U indicator which was measured directly. Data on exclusive breastfeeding and birth spacing were obtained by interview using a questionnaire. Statistical analysis of the correlation between variables using Pearson Product Moment and Rank Spearman. The incidence of stunting in toddlers in Tepisari Village was 15 (23,07%) toddlers. A total of 52 (80%) toddlers in Tepisari Village did not get exclusive breastfeeding and the birth spacing of toddlers >2 years was 60 (92,30%). The results of the correlation test showed that the history of exclusive breastfeeding was p=0,833 and the birth spacing was p=0,209. There was no correlation between history of exclusive breastfeeding and birth spacing with the incidence of stunting in toddlers in Tepisari Village, but from the results of this study there were toddlers who experienced stunting of 15 (23.07%) toddlers so that they needed attention from the Puskesmas so that nutritional status be more optimal.
