Abstract

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, people's behavior and activities have changed. This has an impact on the industrial sector, as many as 15.6% of workers experienced layoffs and 40%. An important element that must be possessed by employees to improve organizational efficiency is organizational commitment. Organizational commitment is the responsibility that individuals have in identifying themselves with organizational norms and goals to determine whether to stay or not. Motivation is a management process to influence behavior based on knowledge of what makes people think. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between work motivation and organizational commitment during the Covid-19 pandemic and to determine differences in organizational commitment between male and female employees. The study used correlational and comparative quantitative methods with non-random sampling sampling technique. Subjects are company employees in Surakarta with a total of 120 respondents. Collecting data using work motivation scale and organizational commitment scale. The validity of the work motivation and organizational commitment scale ranges from 0.7 to 1.00. Reliability on the organizational commitment scale is 0.842 and the reliability on the work motivation scale is 0.908. The results showed that the correlation between work motivation and employee organizational commitment was 0.783 and significant was 0.000 (p < 0.05). which means that there is a very significant positive relationship between work motivation and organizational commitment during the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on these results, it can be said that when an employee's work motivation is high, the higher the organizational commitment he has. The results of the homogeneity test of the organizational commitment variable are known that men get a mean of 67.32 and women of 67.20 with a Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.716, which means that there is no difference between the organizational commitment of male and female Employees
